Engagement kicks off on improvement plan
The City of St. John’s is planning improvements to the Kilbride Community Centre and playground area. Improvements include new swings, landscaping, additional community gardens, and a new basketball net. As the current skatepark adjacent to the baseball field is underutilized, a proposal is being considered to re-locate skate park equipment and replace it with family-friendly and interactive games such as Four Square, Hopscotch, Snakes and Ladders and an obstacle course.
It is important to note that the Huck Williams skatepark on Chafe's Lane is located within one kilometer of the Community Center and offers an alternative location for skateboarding.
Residents are encouraged to provide feedback on the proposed changes. Feedback is being collected on this site through the comments section below and the two quick polls. Other ways to participate include:
- Register to attend a virtual information session Tues. June 1, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. link
- Email your comments to engage@stjohns.ca
- Visit the community centre during business hours
- Call to speak with staff at the Community Centre at 368-0250
The deadline to provide feedback is Sunday, June 6.
