What is the anticipated schedule and duration of this project?

Construction for the Gleneyre Street Culvert Replacement project will begin on Monday, April 10, 2023 and is expected to be complete by November 2023.

What area of Gleneyre Street will be excavated during construction?

Limits of construction for the Gleneyre Street Culvert Replacement will extend from the location just inside the Torbay Road/Gleneyre Street intersection, to the location near #13 Gleneyre Street.

    Will traffic be impacted?

During construction, Gleneyre Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic coming from Torbay Road, with a detour in place for the duration of the work. Motor vehicle traffic will be detoured to Highland Drive, Dunlea Street and Birchwynd Street.

Access to the businesses at #12 Gleneyre St (Medical Centre) and #300 Torbay Road (Peters Pizza) will be maintained from the Gleneyre Street Torbay Road intersection.

Sidewalks and trails in the area will be maintained for people walking and wheeling through the area.

Will there be access to businesses?

Access will be maintained to all businesses at all times. During construction, local access to businesses of Gleneyre Street will be maintained from the Gleneyre Street Torbay Road intersection. Pedestrian traffic through the area will be maintained. Signage will be in place and flag persons will be on site.

Sidewalks and trails in the area will be maintained for people walking and wheeling through the area.

How will I know if there are any traffic or other interruptions?

What are the hours of work?

The Contractors regular hours of work are Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 7:00pm. Some work may occur on Saturdays.

Why can’t the City do the work at night?

Nighttime construction would be very noisy and disruptive to the residential neighbourhood.
