Construction on the Quidi Vidi Slipway replacement will begin in early January 2026.

The Quidi Vidi slipway has reached its end of life and is no longer safe to use. Following its closure, the City collected feedback from residents, property owners and visitors on how they used the area and potential options to maintain access to the water. This feedback informed Council’s decision to replace the slipway.

At the January 21, 2025 Committee of the Whole meeting, Council approved $750,000 from the Capital out of Revenue budget for the Quidi Vidi slipway replacement.

Construction work to facilitate the replacement of the Quidi Vidi Slipway off Cadet Road is scheduled to begin on Friday, January 2, 2026.

In preparation for construction, the contractor will mobilize on the site starting on Tuesday, December 16. Parking spaces immediately adjacent to the slipway will be impacted.

All boats stored on the slipway must be removed by Friday, January 2, 2026.

The City will make every effort to minimize interruptions. The public is asked to follow all personnel and posted signage in and near the construction zone.
