Re-Imagine Churchill Square

Public seating with grass and trees in center. Change entry/exit to extremities.

Eliminate road now in center, connect the two roads on the side to Elizabeth Ave. and make them One-Way with angular parking on both sides .

A skate park, a giant chess or game board. A recreational space of some sort.

Be very careful with parking metres and enforcement. I have stopped shopping and Churchill Square for a fear of the metre running out.

European square

We should move towards making spaces like Churchill Square places for public to gather and enjoy car free, much like the spaces you'd find in a European city with places to eat,, public art and sit outside the resturants and shops etc... However, keeping in mind our winter weather - So perhaps we need indoor/outdoor space too - like a big greenhouse conservatory or something like that. Maybe these ideas are too far reaching, but that's the vibe of what I would like to see more of in St. John's

Less a parking lot and more multipurpose space for pedestrians and shops, perhaps the popup markets

A proper community square

I hope to see people shopping local stores, sitting outside in cafes ( with blankets on their laps if need be!) and at least half the parking lot utilized for sitting, lunching, local farmers, local food vendors.

More greenery. Many trees. Grassy areas with benches and picnic tables. an aesthetically pleasing place to be.

Make it into a square again. Eliminate the road down the middle, make at least part of the square a green space. No high rise buildings.

A place to buy groceries, to get a cappuccino, to get a beer; greenery (trees, plantings, grass), walkways, benches, sheltered spaces.

Less parking, more usable space for other things, with amenities (power etc.)

Bike Racks

They should be there in multiple places and stay all year. There was one there last year for a couple of months. I have no idea where it is now, but there is absolutely nowhere to lock a bike (unless you put it on the wheelchair ramp). This prevents me from shopping in the square on a daily basis.

less parking, more useful outdoor space

Encourage staff to take public transit, find a parking lot off site that's close by ( a dream maybe, I realize that's not that easy) that can be used for staff and shoppers. Cut the parking lot in half at least and provide services for outdoor space and vendors.

Make the central area into a place where people would like to be., as opposed to a place to drop off a car and leave.

Less parking, more green/walking/sitting space.

A dismal, barren parking lot, with 100% priority given to cars.

Neglected

What was once a thriving neighbourhood centre seems to be limping along, with no plan in sight. So glad to see it's going to get some love ad attention.
