    CLOSED: This discussion has concluded.

This month we will say good-bye to the Wedgewood facility as it will be closed and then removed for parking for the new centre. If you have driven by the new facility recently you can see that it is coming together – the state-of-the-art water slide in the pool area is visible from the street and the sheer size of the structure hints at the many opportunities this new complex will present to the community.

Although it is too soon to allow the public to visit the site as work continues, both inside and out, here’s a sneak peek of the facility under construction.

Construction of the new Paul Reynolds Community Centre at Wedgewood Park is proceeding on schedule.

On Monday, June 27 contractors will begin construction of a new entrance to the facility off Carrick Drive that will include the installation of a simple roundabout to smooth traffic flow in the area.

Road construction will occur during the day and will impact the sidewalk on the community-centre side of the street as well as lane reductions. Seeking an alternate route is recommended during the summer months, and the City apologies to residents for the disruption.

The new road configuration is scheduled to be in operation before the start of the 2016-2017 school year; public information and education on using the new roundabout will begin in August as the road nears completion.
