Are the Centre and Park open yet?

    The playground and park are open and can be used. Staff are in the building getting it ready to open it to the public. Public engagement starts April 15 to talk about the programs and services that will be offered there. Check out the key dates for dates and times and plan to attend a session. If you are in the area during regular working hours, 9:00 to 4:30, and want to stop in to see the space, please do so.

    What is the address of the Community Centre and how can I get there?

    The building is located on Messenger Drive, just past Metrobus, off Kelsey Drive. Metrobus routes 10 and 16 serve this area.  There is also a trail from Ariel Place to the park - this trail will be open as soon as weather allows for the installation of a bridge over the river.


    What amenities are at Kenmount Terrace Community Centre and Park?

    Inside there is a full-size gymnasium, 2 multipurpose rooms, change rooms, kitchen and activity area.

    Outside there is a skate park, a splash pad and playground area.  There is an outdoor basketball/ball hockey court and an enclosed dog park, (one area for smaller dogs and one area for big dogs).  There is a looped asphalt trail (2.5 meteres wide) that links all the park’s activity zones/spaces.  There is a neighbourhood gateway at Ariel St. which provides pedestrian/bike access and a play area for residents within the area.


    What programs and activities will be happening in the building?

    Public engagement is underway to discuss program and planning for the building (see Key Dates for details).  Some areas to discuss would be programs/services for children, youth, adults and seniors.  The building will also be available for rental opportunities.


    I live in Kenmount Terrace, how can I get to the Community Centre and Park?

    There is a trail from Ariel Place Park to the Park and Centre which will provide pedestrian and bike access. As soon as the ground conditions permit, the bridge will be installed. Until then access is on Messenger Drive which is off Kelsey Drive.


    How big is the gymnasium and what types of activities will be permitted in there?

    The gymnasium is 106 ft X 63 ft and can be divided in half if required.  The gymnasium will be available for various sports, events and birthday parties as well as City programs for children, youth, adults and seniors.


    What are the features of the Skatepark?

    This urban skatepark features: 4’ high turn around transition, high to low wedge ramp with rooftop ledge, 1.5’ high bank ramp with up/down rail and hubba ledge,  transition hip, ‘cheat’ ramps and frontside/backside out ledges, flat rail, very long, slightly curved flat ledge / manual pad, slappy bank, bank ramp hip with steel fence top, bank to pole jam, 3 stair set with pier 7 inspired manual pad, high to low slappy bank with inset ledge, sculptural cantilevered turn around steep bank.


    How big is the kitchen area and what is included?

    The kitchen is roughly 16 ft x 18 ft and is equipped with 2 fridges, stove top, 2 ovens, 2 microwave ovens, dishwasher and a freezer. 


    What are the features of the playground?

    The playground has rubber play safe surfacing, with a variety of play features: swings, slides, ramps, single units, interactive stations, accessible equipment.  There is also an app available for download (Biba), making the area interactive. 


    Is the Dog Park open?

    Not yet but it will be opening soon.


    What are the hours of the splash pad and will there be access to change rooms?

    Hours of operation at the splash pad are from 9 a.m. to dusk every day during the summer.  There are changerooms and washrooms located adjacent to the splash pad accessible only from the outside of the building.
