Consultation has concluded
Galway Village Green Phase 1 - Playground Development began with a public RFP to hire a Landscape Architect in Summer 2021. The project was awarded in August 2021 and the consultant prepared tenders for public clearing and grubbing of the site as well as a topographic survey to aid in the Detailed Design Development which commenced in Fall 2021.
The Construction Tender has been awarded to Can-Am Platforms and construction commenced end of June 2022. The project will be completed in Spring 2023.
The Phase 1 development includes the following amenities: construction of a fully accessible 6500SF playground, a large multi-purpose court, a small picnic area, trails and pathways, landscaping, benches and seating, and a dedicated parking area.
Future phases of the development will include the following amenities: a splashpad, washrooms, maintenance shed, a community garden, a terraced garden, a pavilion, a large open green space, a social gathering area, a large picnic area, a viewing platform, and a seating area to overlook an engineered wetland. Further development of landscaping, park seating, pathways, and trails to provide connectivity to other amenities is planned for the area.

Due to the re-tendering of the RFP process, a schedule adaptation was required. To enhance the project schedule a decision was made to proceed with clearing and grubbing of the site to be completed in Fall 2021. This activity was completed in October 2021.
Award of Topographical Survey

Due to the re-tendering of the RFP process, a decision was made to enhance the schedule and complete the topographical survey of the site in Fall 2021. This activity was completed in December and detailed design of the park is underway.
Detailed Design of Galway Village Green - Phase 1 Playground Development

Due to the re-tendering of the RFP process, the detailed design schedule was shifted to late Fall 2021. To enhance the project schedule, clearing and grubbing of the site, along with the topographical survey have been completed in advance of the scheduled construction which is slated for Spring 2022.

We will be undertaking a Geotechnical Investigation to support the detailed design of the civil and landscape program works in preparation for tender.
