Engagement is now open.

Provide your feedback by Sunday, October 25.

A new three-year Accessibility Plan has been drafted to improve accessibility and reduce barriers in programs, services and spaces operated by the City and Metrobus - and we need your feedback!

Our new plan builds on the progress made from the 2024-2026 Accessibility Plan (PDF opens in new tab) to improve accessibility in key priority areas. Over the last 3 years, we opened the new H.G.R. Mews Community Centre, added new accessible playground equipment, improved access to parks, expanded accessible pedestrian and transit routes, reduced paratransit wait-times, and developed inclusive policies and procedures. Many other improvements are highlighted in the 2024 and 2025 progress reports available under Important Links.

While a lot of great work was completed, we know there is more work to do. We worked with City's Inclusion Advisory Committee, Metrobus Accessibility Committee, and reviewed feedback from previous accessibility planning and public engagement to draft 35 goals and 92 actions for the next 3 years.

PDF copies of the Draft 2027-2029 Accessibility Plan, Plain Language Version and summary sheets for each priority area are available on the right side of this page. If you need an alternate format, please email engage@stjohns.ca or call 709 576 4450.

Let us know if the goals and actions we've planned will create meaningful accessibility improvements or if there are important priorities that we have missed.
