The watermain in the Rabbittown area is scheduled for cleaning and structural lining from April to August 2019. This is a continuation of the 2018 watermain lining project.

Businesses and homes will receive water through a temporary above ground water piping system installed along the street. The contractor will notify residents directly if their property is impacted. Access to properties is required to provide temporary water service. Check out the Street List and more under Document Library.

Two-way traffic and pedestrian access will be maintained where possible. Every effort will be made to maintain driveway access to properties in the work site. Minor traffic delays are to be expected.

November 19, 2018. The watermain work in the Rabbittown area is now nearing completion and all properties are scheduled to be removed from temporary above ground piping during the next three weeks.

Residents in the area who are hooked up to the temporary above ground water piping system are encouraged to keep a steady flow of water running from an inside tap when the temperature is near or below 0 degrees to help protect the temporary water service line from freezing.

Residents will be notified directly by the contractor when they are scheduled to be removed from the temporary water piping and are required to turn on their existing water shut-off valve or when access to the property is required to facilitate removal from the temporary water piping. Please check your mail for a letter from the contractor.

The City thanks local residents for their cooperation and apologizes for the inconvenience that this project has caused. Reinstatement work to re-pave sections in the area is ongoing and will continue for a few weeks following removal from the temporary water piping.

The rehabilitation work on the watermain is required to reduce maintenance issues and improve service.

In March the City of St. John's began rehabilitation work on the watermain in the Rabbittown Area in order to improve water service. The construction work to rehabilitate the watermain is currently on hold.

We have encountered some technical challenges with the project which we are working through with our contractor.

We expect that work will resume during the next few weeks.
