All year round Pedestrian Mall

This article makes me even more frustrated with our city. The Downtown Pedestrian Mall should not have closed. Where are our urban designers and planners? I had so much to say but I think this expert in this article says it all. Having lived in Asia for almost 2 decades, I have seen some amazing things around design and planning. Based on that, I do not accept that snow or cold should impede our small businesses. If the right heads are gathered together, we can thrive. It isn’t rocket science. Once again, those involved in decision making do not have the frame of reference to make it happen so they should hire an expert that can make it happen. And yes, that will require vision and hard work, like we do in our small businesses everyday. But if those making decisions are not on-board with small businesses downtown, it doesn’t matter, our hands will continue to be tied. We didn’t have a single customer yesterday. Many will not survive the winter. It has already declined in recent years anyway.
