A backhoe/excavator will be operating at 28 Eric Street starting on March 14 to excavate test pits at several locations on site. A field technologist will oversee the work and will collect soil samples from each of the test pits which will then be filled back in. This work is expected to be completed by March 25. Please note that this work is weather permitting.
Prior to the start of field work, contractors will be meeting on site with utility companies to confirm the location of any underground utilities.
The purpose of this work is to assess the environmental quality of the soil. The results of the soil analysis will dictate the next steps for the project.
As part of the Affordable Housing Strategy, City Council identified this parcel of land at 28 Eric Street for redevelopment as affordable home ownership, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity.
The development review process is ongoing with the applicant, Habitat for Humanity. If development approval is issued, the applicant will then be required to apply for building permits.
