Bridge Rehabilitation: Allandale Road Bridge at Rennie's River
This capital construction project is now complete.

Construction work to rehabilitate the bridge at Allandale Road/Rennie's River is anticipated to begin in June 2024, and is expected to be completed by October 2024.
This project includes reinforced concrete repairs and rehabilitation works for the bridge superstructure, expansion joint replacements, widening of the sidewalk along north side of the bridge, installation of waterproofing for the bridge deck, and placement of new asphalt. These repairs and rehabilitation works are being conducted to extend the service life of the structure.
Traffic Impacts
During the project, motorists and pedestrians are advised of the following temporary traffic changes at Allandale Bridge:
Motorists:
- Lane reductions and traffic diversions are in effect.
- Expect slowdowns and delays.
- Consider using alternate routes where possible.
Pedestrians:
- The sidewalk on the north side of Allandale Bridge (bordering Long Pond) is closed.
- Use an alternate route: cross at the Allandale Road/Confederation Building intersection, follow the sidewalk on the south side of Allandale Bridge, and then cross at the Prince Philip Drive/Allandale Road intersection.
Construction Projects in the Memorial University Area
A significant amount of work is being completed in the Memorial University area during the 2024 construction season, which will impact the overall flow of traffic in the area. In addition to the above, the following projects will also be active in the area:
- Elizabeth Avenue Shared-Use Path and Road Improvements
- Fortis Canada Games Complex
- University Ave Storm Sewer Upgrades
